JOIN OUR PROFESSIONAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM TO MAKE A REAL IMPACT AND LEARN FROM A LEADING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT NON-PROFit
The programme is designed for working professionals who want to gain hands-on experience in international development, take a career break or are considering a career-change. If you are curious to learn more about sustainability in a low-resource environment facing severe and frequent climate-related events, our professional programme is designed for you!
EcoSwell is a grassroots NGO working alongside indigenous communities in coastal Peru. Our mission is to promote sustainable development of vulnerable communities and to-date we have impacted more than 100,000 lives. We offer international volunteers the strategic-ownership of projects, leadership-level experience, and a pathway to shape systems, organisational development, partnerships, and long-term impact.
There is a lack of energy access and unreliable grid connections, that cause frequent blackouts in the areas in which we operate. Due to the semi-arid environment of northern Peru, drought and a scarcity of water are also commonplace. This threatens livelihoods, health, basic services, food security, and quality of life, making our work critical to the resiliency of the remote communities in which we serve.
We need passionate professional volunteers like you to support our environmental, educational, infrastructural, and socio-economic initiatives. These are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and are co-developed with local communies including renewable energy and wastewater treatment. We work in English in our HQ in Lobitos, and in Spanish when engaging with the local community. A basic level of Spanish helps, but is not essential to take part.
While you are here, you can take time to improve your surfing, participate in yoga and enjoy typically Peruvian cultural activities. As part of the program, we offer a weekly dinner out with our local team where you can try world-renowned dishes like ceviche and lomo saltado.
