Dr Carmen Thompson Perea

Public Health Project Coordinator

Carmen is a medical doctor from Spain who obtained her MBBS and Global Health BSc at Imperial College London. She completed her Foundation Training in Royal Free London NHS Trust and holds a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. She is due to start Internal Medicine Training in August 2026. She has 9 years of experience being part of Africa en la Piel, Dr Pedro Jaen Foundation, working in KCMC, Moshi, Tanzania. She also has previous global health experience in Thailand, Jamaica and Nepal. She has a particular interest in infectious diseases and public health in low-resource settings.

She helps with the coordination of public health projects in Lobitos through remote and in-person engagement. She is committed to integrating context-appropriate research to guide EcoSwell’s initiatives whilst working closely with the MINSA Lobitos Medical Post. Activities align with local and regional health priorities and are grounded by in field experience and needs assessments.
